Visitors to Optoma’s annual Showcase, which took place at Silverstone last Friday (7 November), voted the impressive edge blend of four powerful 7,500–lumen ProScene projectors on a 9m wide curved screen, to be the absolute highlight.
The event, organised by Optoma in partnership with Texas Instruments, saw demonstrations on how quick auto edge blending can be with the Chameleon GB-200 on this huge screen.
The Optoma Showcase broughtAV and IT dealers and distributors, home cinema specialists and Pro-AV partners together to see the latest developments in projection technology.
Delegates were writing on the table with Optoma’s interactive ultra short throw projector W307USTi and relaxing on the sofas while watching just how easy it is to share games and videos on the big screen from a mobile device using a single MHL cable. There were also demonstrations in the business zone of wireless projection using a Mini Wifi dongle (perfect for meetings on-the-go) and WHD200 wireless HDMI system.
Twenty delegates at the event won an Aston Martin driving experience, which saw them speeding around this legendary racing circuit in an Aston Martin V8 Vantage.
Optoma’s Territory Manager, Nick Price, said: “We are delighted with the turnout and interest from visitors. Our latest 1080p business, education and home projectors were on show as well as ourrange of LED lighting panels. But it was our professional installation models that were the real hit with our guests. They were surprised at just how simple it can be, with the right technology, to achieve these impressive displays.”
Emmanuel Herbreteau from Texas Instruments said: “It was a brilliant event and we are delighted to be part of it. With various applications on display and being demonstrated, it really showed the breadth of what DLP projectors can do.”
Green Hippo, HARMAN’s AMX, Nvidia and Projection Artworks joined Optoma and Texas Instruments at the event.
Green Hippo used its new Hippotizer version 4 to project map onto a model of an almost life-size car (pictured).
HARMAN’s AMX demonstrated its technology and management systems, which allow businesses to monitor and control projectors and other IT equipment remotely across a network.
Projection Artworks unveiled its new retail display technology- DisplayMapper, which uses projection mapping to show innovative retail solutions for products such as trainers, mobile phones and perfume.
Nvidia’s innovative Quadro K5200 graphic card was used within the advanced edge blending demonstration on the curved screen.
All Optoma projectors use DLP technology, pioneered by Texas Instruments. This technology uses millions of mirrors to produce high quality images and ensures the projectors do not suffer colour degradation over time. Texas Instruments was on hand to meet the industry, show how DLP works and explain its advantages and value proposition
