Stunning glass projection reflects Palm Jumeirah’s Muraba Residences
The Challenge

Muraba Properties, the developer behind Palm Jumeirah’s Muraba Residences, commissioned the design of a striking glass pavilion in Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), the leading international financial hub and destination for lifestyle, arts and culture.
Created to promote the new Muraba Residences, the pavilion was conceptualised by RCR Arquitectes, Pritzker-prize laureates and designers of the residences and would include an installation of ‘floating’ glass fins onto which three films would be screened.
Muraba Residences consists of 46 apartments and four penthouses and is an architectural gem on the Eastern Crescent of Dubai’s Palm Jumeirah.
The project required rear projectors with the capability to clearly present films onto the textured glazing structures from a projection distance of just 1.2 metres.
Solution
The glass fins were hand-crafted in the distinctive architectural style of Muraba Residences and a trio of cinematic pieces were created through a partnership with international filmmaker Massimiliano Siccardi. Siccardi and his team were inspired by how light brings the Muraba building to life and has a crucial role in its design.
Dubai-based AV experts Projection House specified Optoma’s ZH4000UST ultra short throw laser projectors with their ultra high lumen capability.

To ensure the projection would be perfect, Projection House tested the projectors at the Glass House Manufacturing site before final installation.
Eddie said: “We installed the two Optoma ZH400UST projectors side by side and mapped the display using edge blending and mapping software. We ran a sample video and it was perfect.”
The six projectors were installed within weatherproof enclosures and connected to a high powered customized PC with a 6 HDMI out video card. Bose weatherproof and waterproof speakers and amplifier completed the installation to provide the audio.
Results
It took around 12 hours to install, test and commission all the equipment. But when the work was over, Muraba Properties Glass Projection was successfully installed and ran perfectly.
